We have all seen those crazy TV commercials with the Rat jamming out in the living room, or the cockroach trying to deliver a pizza, which is promptly followed by the "Orkin Man" who keeps the unwanted pests away.   Orkin spends a lot of money on advertising their brand and it is clear they want that brand safeguarded.

I was following an Orkin truck today and Orkin has a rather novel approach to their employee's driving their vehicles, one they have obviously put thought into and they apparently...

Older Drivers

Thursday, April 21, 2011 by Sherry Kniffen

Older drivers are the fastest growing segment of the U.S. population. Not only will there be more drivers, but these drivers will also drive more miles per year than previous generations, and will drive at older ages. Older drivers currently make up 10 percent of all drivers. By the year 2020, one of four Florida residents will be over age 64, and half of them will be 75 or older.

Studies suggest that many older adults in the U.S. will outlive their ability to drive. Pedestrians, bicyclists, and...

The four way stop

Wednesday, March 23, 2011 by Kent Bissell

There is a new use of four way stop signs here in the Harris County area.   Local law enforcement officials are using them for a variety of checks.   First off, you have to come to a complete stop - which you will because of the constable in the middle of the road.   Second, you had better have your seatbelt fastened, or guess what - you are getting a ticket.  Third, you should have your registration updated or you are getting a ticket.

I have witnessed more and more of these types of captive...
