Being a passenger in a vehicle can be a stressful
situation. Think about it. You’re putting your life in
someone else’s hands as a passenger in someone else’s car.
Here’s a twist; that someone else happens to be your young
driver. Has the panic set in for some of you yet? I see you over
there clinching on to your seat belt, white knuckling the

Essentially, if you do not have a comprehensive driver safety
policy or program in place, you are leaving your company open to
liability. In most cases, punitive damages are not
covered under the commercial auto insurance policy, which means to
you the employer, if you have employees driving, while the damages
assessed to property and employee might be covered,...

This is a great article written by a law firm in
Nevada
http://www.christiansenlaw.com/Articles/Holding-Employers-Liable-for-Employee-Wrongs.shtml and
it really highlights the need for all employers to take an active
role in the training of their employees.

Many suits have
been brought in United States courts as a result of sun
glare obliterating traffic control devices or oncoming
vehicles or pedestrians from view. Multiple terms have
been used to describe this situation, including disability glare,
veiling glare, sun blindness, and sun dazzle. The
effect is to 'wash out' the image on the retina with a bright,
overwhelmingly dominant spot or pattern. Evaluation of
sun glare requires factoring in latitude and longitude, road
direction, weather...

We have all seen those crazy TV commercials with the Rat
jamming out in the living room, or the cockroach trying to deliver
a pizza, which is promptly followed by the "Orkin Man" who keeps
the unwanted pests away. Orkin spends a lot of money on
advertising their brand and it is clear they want that brand
safeguarded.
I was following an Orkin truck today and Orkin has a rather
novel approach to their employee's driving their vehicles,
one they have obviously put thought into and they apparently...

Over 40,000 people die each year in the United States as a
result of automobile accidents. With the increasing amount of
traffic on our highways, the number of related deaths also
continues to rise. Many states require those drivers who have
vehicle crashes and have points on their driving records to take a
course in defensive driving. Statistics show that successfully
completing a course of this type will greatly reduce the likelihood
of an accident.
There are lots of companies, large and small,...

times over the drink limit when she arrived at work just before her
afternoon shift.

deputy in Lee County, Florida, spotted her weaving through traffic
in her own car.
He followed her to the school bus barn in Lehigh Acres where she
was found sitting against a pole, smelling of alcohol with
bloodshot eyes, said the sheriff's office.
During a sobriety test, Tripp...

Older drivers are the fastest growing segment of the U.S.
population. Not only will there be more drivers, but these drivers
will also drive more miles per year than previous generations, and
will drive at older ages. Older drivers currently make up 10
percent of all drivers. By the year 2020, one of four Florida
residents will be over age 64, and half of them will be 75 or
older.
Studies suggest that many older adults in the U.S. will outlive
their ability to drive. Pedestrians, bicyclists, and...

Have you ever been sitting in the traffic lane that is
immobile in rush hour traffic while other lanes have a smooth flow
of traffic and wondered how you ended there? Well I have and if you
are like me, this can be quite frustrating.
During rush hour I noticed a truck trying to turn on a very busy
road. The scenario looked dangerous and I thought, "There must be a
sign somewhere. He is holding up traffic and that turn is very
dangerous." There it was. A do not turn sign near the traffic...

organizations who are concerned about driver safety amongst their
employees who are in the business of driving.
Keep in mind motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of
occupational fatalities in the United States, it is important to
understand the hazard presented and the frequency of the hazard
risk.
The hazard, as defined by the State of Massachusetts is if...
