An off-duty Fort Bend
County Sheriff's Office deputy was taken to the hospital Sunday
after a motorcycle accident on Houston's south side.
According to Houston police, the FBCSO deputy was on a motorcycle
working an extra job doing traffic for a funeral.
Police said an Isuzu Rodeo failed to yield the right-of-way and
struck the off-duty officer on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. at
Bellfort Street.
Officials said the vehicle dragged the deputy across a couple lanes

I recently read a drunk driving story similar to a story in the
FloridaWheelsinMotion.com course. According to the New York
Times, drunk driver, John Goodman, hit a vehicle, causing it to
land in a drainage ditch. The driver of
the vehicle suffered unconsciousness and eventually
drowned.
As described in the Florida traffic school course, FloridaWheelsinMotion.com, Vanessa Montague's
daughter, Mandy was a passenger of a vehicle with a drunk
driver. The vehicle was involved in an accident...

Megan Barnes was driving while doing what?!?!
No, the 37-year-old woman wasn't on her cellphone. She wasn't
texting, either. The Florida Highway Patrol says Ms. Barnes
was driving while shaving - there's more - driving while shaving
her, uh, "bikini area." Well, that's what the cops call
it.
It might not surprise you to learn that during Barnes' ride on the
razor's edge, she allegedly crashed into the backup of a pickup
truck in Cudjoe Key, Fla, according to
CBS
affiliate WFOR. Then, she and...

During the holiday, a lot of people tend to travel to see family
out of town. Some people choose to fly or take the bus, most people
drive. When driving, you have to make sure that you are cautious of
the speed traps and the various cops that are out waiting to give
holiday travelers a ticket.
Statics show that over 100,000 people a day receive a speeding
ticket in this country.
That's over 41,000,0000
speeding tickets per year. One in every 6 drivers
will get a speeding ticket this year. You...

Walking could be the most important mode
of transportation. As the weather cools we will see more
people outside enjoying the break from the sweltering heat of
summer past. The willingness of drivers to give way to pedestrians
is very low. 3% of all the people injured in traffic crashes are
pedestrians. We, as drivers, can all take part in reducing
pedestrian injuries and fatalities by giving the pedestrian the
right of way.
There are several tips for drivers. Pedestrians have the
right-of-way...

Oct. 17 to 21 is teen driver safety week in New Jersey. In the past
10 years, more than 700 young drivers have lost their lives on New

crash, according to the state Division of Highway Traffic Safety.
Cell phone talking, alcohol drinking and drug use were some of the
prohibitions discussed at Livingston's annual teen driver education
night. Setting a good driving role model was the theme at the

I recently read an article about an undercover sting operation
which took place in Florida and I must say, I was somewhat
shocked. Apparently, there is a real problem in Volusia
County Florida when it comes to drivers passing school buses,
enough of one, the Volusia County Sheriff's Department
initiated a "special traffic enforcement" to catch people passing
school buses?
It is illegal to pass a stopped school bus, this is
something everyone should know!
In Florida, the statute is 316.172 and...

Next Monday represents the first day of school for a lot of
kids. With the start of the school year, the roads
instantly get more congested and you need to start thinking about
how to plan to be safe, whether you are driving little ones to
school, driving through a school zone or just commuting to
work. The extra cars alone from people taking their
kids to school increases traffic.
Most people know driving is a privilege and not a right, but very
few understand it is a privilege that can be...

there are some states and cities getting
creative. Houston, Texas is no
exception.

deficit. It's the same story as elsewhere,...
