Being a passenger in a vehicle can be a stressful
situation. Think about it. You’re putting your life in
someone else’s hands as a passenger in someone else’s car.
Here’s a twist; that someone else happens to be your young
driver. Has the panic set in for some of you yet? I see you over
there clinching on to your seat belt, white knuckling the
door handle, and using your imaginary brake pedal as you ever so
lovingly instruct your child to “Don’t drive so close behind
that car!” , “Using...

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, (FMCSA), allows
truck drivers to continue to spend as many as 11 hours a day on the
road under a final hours-of-service rule they issued in
December. They had proposed shortening the daily allowable
driving time, but said "compelling scientific evidence" is needed
to support the move.
FMCSA determined that the economic benefits of the current 11-hour
maximum trumped the safety gains associated with limiting truckers
to 10 hours on the road. Fleet...

If you are a fleet manager or Vice President of
Human Resources with a lot of employees
driving, you better know what it means.
Essentially, if you do not have a comprehensive driver safety
policy or program in place, you are leaving your company open to
liability. In most cases, punitive damages are not
covered under the commercial auto insurance policy, which means to
you the employer, if you have employees driving, while the damages
assessed to property and employee might be covered,...

This is a Defensive Driving Strategy tip from one of our
several state approved defensive driving courses about interacting
with motorcycles.
Knowing when collisions involving motorcycles are most likely to
occur can help you drive safely in dangerous situations:
Left Turns - Nationally, the most common crash
between cars and motorcycles is at an intersection when the
automobile driver is making a left turn in front of a motorcycle.
In 2008, there were 2,554 two-vehicle fatal crashes involving...

If you didn't know, let me tell that Texas implemented new rules
for the road on Sept 1, 2011:
- Tow trucks have now been added to the slow down or move over
laws, which require drivers to slow down 20 miles per hour below
the speed limit, or to vacate the lane closest to the stopped
emergency vehicle that has emergency lights activated if the road
has multiple lanes traveling in the same direction. (House
Bill 378)
- Speed limits will now be the same during night and day
driving, and separate speed...

Driving is very common in the world as far as maneuvering to
various places. People drive to the store or to work. Driving is
very common in getting from point A to point B. In this common

Many suits have
been brought in United States courts as a result of sun
glare obliterating traffic control devices or oncoming
vehicles or pedestrians from view. Multiple terms have
been used to describe this situation, including disability glare,
veiling glare, sun blindness, and sun dazzle. The
effect is to 'wash out' the image on the retina with a bright,
overwhelmingly dominant spot or pattern. Evaluation of
sun glare requires factoring in latitude and longitude, road
direction, weather...

We have all seen those crazy TV commercials with the Rat
jamming out in the living room, or the cockroach trying to deliver
a pizza, which is promptly followed by the "Orkin Man" who keeps
the unwanted pests away. Orkin spends a lot of money on
advertising their brand and it is clear they want that brand
safeguarded.
I was following an Orkin truck today and Orkin has a rather
novel approach to their employee's driving their vehicles,
one they have obviously put thought into and they apparently...

delivery vehicles or simply loans out a few company cars for sales
calls, creating and implementing an effective safe driving program
will protect financial and human resources; reduce liability; and,
above all, ensure the continued health and safety of employees and
their families.

training, are proven to produce results. The National of Employers
for Traffic Safety (NETS) recommends a ten-step program...

Know the number of points for a
Florida traffic ticket
Your drivers license is one place where
points are a bad thing. If you are convicted of traffic violation
such as speeding or any moving violation in Florida points will be
accessed to your drivers license. And if you are an out of state
driver the State of Florida will send the violation details to your
state DMV.
When you are charged with a traffic violation in Florida in many
cases you can avoid getting the points but once the points...

When you set your side mirrors out fifteen degrees they become
an extension of your rear view mirror. To set your mirror at
fifteen degrees for the left side, lean your head over so that it
is even with the window and adjust the mirror so that you can
barely see the sides of your car from this position. To adjust the
right side mirror put your head in the center point of the car then
adjust the right side mirror just as you did the left.
This expands your view into your blind spot and you...
